Becoming Shakespeare reimagined the visitor experience at Shakespeare's Birthplace, creating a series of immersive galleries exploring the playwright's early life, influences and creative journey through artefacts, storytelling and multimedia interpretation.
MJS Group was appointed as Principal Contractor, providing technical design development, bespoke joinery manufacture and complete on-site installation. Our scope included new partitioning, exhibition setworks, AV housings, graphics, decorating and the refurbishment of existing showcases. Extensive pre-construction planning and off-site manufacture enabled complex elements to be assembled before installation, improving efficiency and maintaining quality throughout the programme. Working within one of the country's most significant heritage attractions required careful sequencing, close coordination with specialist contractors and a sensitive approach to protecting the historic fabric while delivering a contemporary visitor experience. The completed galleries successfully combine traditional craftsmanship with modern interpretation, creating a dynamic exhibition that respects the significance of the historic setting while engaging a new generation of visitors.
