Shoemakers Museum

Clarks Village, Street (Somerset)
Museum Fit-out

The Shoemakers Museum celebrates the heritage of Clarks and the craft, innovation and community that shaped one of Britain's most recognised footwear manufacturers. The museum combines restored historic buildings with contemporary gallery spaces to tell the story of shoemaking through immersive interpretation and carefully curated collections.

MJS Group managed the complete exhibition fit-out from pre-construction through to final handover. Our responsibilities included programme management, CDM compliance, coordination of specialist subcontractors, bespoke joinery manufacture, exhibition setworks, conservation-grade showcases, integrated AV and decorative finishes. Through proactive planning, rigorous quality control and close communication with the client and design team, we successfully delivered four permanent galleries that balance contemporary exhibition design with the character and heritage of this unique site. The project highlights MJS's ability to manage complex museum developments while maintaining exceptional standards of craftsmanship, safety, programme management and technical delivery throughout.
